1. How do I find out more about The Charleston ?

The Charleston is open for tours 7 days a week from 8 am to 6p.m.  Please feel free to stop by and visit or call ahead and we can arrange for you and a guest to have lunch at the facility and get to know some of our courteous staff and residents. 2. Can I afford to live at The Charleston ?

Everyone over 65 years of age can afford to live at The Charleston!

Our rates start at $1000 per month for most services with the exception of hands on personal care and personal laundry service.  In addition for lower income seniors (incomes around $900) the State of Nevada offers assistance for qualified individuals.  The Charleston in one of the few larger facilities in Nevada that will accept resident on this program and we will be happy to assist you in applying for these benefits for you or your loved one.  Please contact us for further eligibility requirements and information.

3. What is included in my rent?

Our services include a fully furnished studio apartment, 3 meals prepared fresh in our kitchen each day, snacks in the afternoon and evening, daily housekeeping service, all linens and towls, 24 supervision by staff trained in First Aid and CPR techniques, all utilities, assistance with medications, a friendly office staff who can schedule appointments and transportation along with other services upon request, safe storage of valuables and an excellent activities program with daily events both in and out of the facility.

4. What are the requirements for admission?

Although most of residents are seniors age 65+, any person over the age of 18 may me admitted to The Charleston.  The perspective resident must be ambulatory, but may use an assistave device such as a walker or cane, or may use a wheelchair if they are able to transfer independantly.  The must be cognitively able to evacuate the facility on their own in an emergency, be continent of bowl and bladder or require minimal assistance, and dress themselves.  For specific questions and concerns please contact us by phone or click here for our  .

5. What will I need to do before moving in?

The first step is generally visiting the facility and having a tour, getting to know our staff and meeting some of the residents.  A physician must clear the resident medically and we will do an evaluation of our own upon your first visit, but most paperwork is done at the time of admission.

6. What can I bring to my new home?

Although our rooms are furnished, if you or your loved one would be more comfortable with their own bed, favorite rocker, or a complete set of bedroom furniture we are more than happy to have our furnishings moved to make the move as smooth and comfortable as possible.  Many residents also have mini-refrigerators, microwaves, toasters, coffee makers, and other small appliances, please inquire if you have a special request or need further information.
